This piece has a propagandistic quality. The themes run around capitalism and modernisation. The viewer takes on the masculine role of a dictator-like entity who desires to subdue and control all that is around him. The predominantly red, white and blue creates allusions to the USA, which epitomises the West. There are vast areas of nature to be exploited and a topless woman in view to make it all the more enticing. The curtains on either side are deconstructive devices in that they foreground the inherent duplicity, the ultimate vanity and consequent alienation in this approach.
